The 13th annual Roslyn Mountain Ale Festival was set for Saturday, October 17, at The Roslyn Yard. It has been canceled. The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce announced the decision and says refunds have already gone back to ticket holders' original payment methods. According to the Daily Record, advance ticket sales didn't reach the level the event needed.
The festival was the 21+, no-pets, ticketed afternoon that filled The Roslyn Yard with Pacific Northwest breweries and a live band. Without it, every event left between now and Christmas Eve is put on by a Roslyn institution. The list includes a church, an animal shelter, a teen center, the Masonic Hall, the fire department and the Roslyn Downtown Association. Most of these events are free.
"We know this news will be disappointing, particularly to those who were looking forward to joining us." Amy McGuffin, president and CEO of the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, in the Daily Record
October 17 Still Has a Shape
You may run into an outdated listing. The Roslyn Downtown Association events calendar still shows the festival on October 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. and describes it as "coming back." The Chamber's cancellation notice is the current word. No replacement event at the Yard has been announced for that afternoon.
Two blocks away, the RDA Creative Center at 103 W Idaho Ave is hosting a fry-bread baking class with Korina Polk the same Saturday. It runs three sessions, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Each costs $20. The Creative Center is a small room built for small groups, so if you want a particular time slot, register early.
The beer can still be part of the day. Roslyn Brewing Company at 208 W Pennsylvania Ave keeps its taproom open year-round on Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5:30 p.m. It is closed Monday through Thursday. On October 17 the taproom opens at 1 p.m., the hour the festival gates would have opened.
The Season, Host by Host
From here to Christmas Eve, the calendar looks like this. Read the "Host" column. Every name on it is local.
| Date | Event | Where | Host | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sat., Oct. 17 | Fry-bread baking class | RDA Creative Center, 103 W Idaho Ave | Roslyn Downtown Association, with Korina Polk | $20 per session |
| Sat., Oct. 31 | Halloween Paws on Parade | AARF animal foster-care shelter | AARF | Not listed |
| Sat., Oct. 31 | Boo-tiful Roslyn Treats | Downtown storefronts | Downtown businesses | Not listed |
| Sat., Oct. 31 | Cool Monsters Ball | The Shop Teen Center | The Shop Teen Center | Free |
| Wed., Nov. 4 | Roslyn Music Jam | RDA Creative Center, 103 W Idaho Ave | Roslyn Downtown Association | Not listed |
| Sat., Nov. 7 | Katie's Holiday Bazaar | Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 202 W Arizona Ave | Episcopal Church of the Resurrection | Free entry |
| Sat., Nov. 21 | Roslyn Winter Bazaar | Masonic Hall, 122 W Pennsylvania Ave | Listed at the Masonic Hall | Free admission |
| Fri., Nov. 27 | Roslyn Old Town Christmas | Downtown Roslyn | Roslyn Downtown Association | Not listed |
| Thu., Dec. 24 | Christmas Eve with Santa | NWIC Building, 101 E Pennsylvania Ave | Roslyn Fire Department | Not listed |
None of these events depends on enough advance tickets selling to pay for a brewery lineup and a band. That cost structure is what sank the festival. The events above are built on a church kitchen, a fire engine and a list of storefronts that agree to hand out candy.
Halloween Spreads Across the Whole Day
October 31 falls on a Saturday this year. Three events spread across the day:
- 1 p.m. AARF's Halloween Paws on Parade starts at the animal foster-care shelter. The RDA listing doesn't give a street address, so check with AARF before you leave the house.
- 3 to 5 p.m. Downtown businesses hand out Boo-tiful Roslyn Treats.
- 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. The free Cool Monsters Ball for middle and high school students at The Shop Teen Center, with dancing, costume activities, snacks and treats.
The parade comes first, then downtown treats, and the teen dance starts after dark, so each age group gets its own block of time. A family with a dog, a grade-schooler and a teenager could get to all three without any overlap.
Two Bazaars, Two Weeks Apart
Holiday shopping in Roslyn happens in two church and lodge halls on Saturdays two weeks apart.
Katie's Holiday Bazaar runs Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 202 W Arizona Ave. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and entry is free.
The Roslyn Winter Bazaar follows on Saturday, November 21, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Masonic Hall, 122 W Pennsylvania Ave. Admission is free, and Aspire Dance Studio is listed as the entertainment. The Masonic Hall is on the same block of Pennsylvania Avenue as the brewery and the arcade, so the November 21 bazaar is easy to combine with a downtown lunch.
Old Town Christmas Lands on the Busiest Friday of the Year
Roslyn Old Town Christmas is Friday, November 27, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. downtown. That's the day after Thanksgiving. The Roslyn Downtown Association lists daytime activities and live music leading into a Christmas program, then a countdown to the tree lighting and the Yakima Christmas Trucks parade. Questions go to [email protected].
The date matters because Roslyn Brewing Company opens on the Friday after Thanksgiving as one of its two exceptions to the weekend-only schedule. The town's tree lighting and the taproom's holiday opening fall on the same Friday.
The 2026 listing doesn't give a tree-lighting time, a parade start time or a parade route yet. Last year's schedule is the best guide until those details are posted. In 2025, the RDA's program started at 5:15 p.m., the tree was lit at 6 p.m., and the trucks rolled at 6:05 p.m. The parade started at First Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, turned left onto Washington Avenue, left onto Second Street, and left again onto Pennsylvania Avenue, where the trucks stayed parked through 7:20 p.m.
The Yakima Herald's coverage of the 2025 event lists the daytime venues. Santa and Olaf were at the NWIC Building, 101 E Pennsylvania Ave. Roslyn Theatre, 101 W Dakota Ave, showed "Elf" for free at noon. Simple Wellness, 101 W Montana Ave, ran crafts. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. there was live music at NWIC, The Wine Collaboration at 117 W Pennsylvania Ave, and Basecamp Books at 110 W Pennsylvania Ave. Those were last year's plans, and none has been confirmed for 2026. If the RDA posts this year's times, they will replace everything in this section.
The Weeknights Between the Big Dates
A few recurring events fill the weeks between the dates above.
- Roslyn Music Jam, first Wednesday of each month through November, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the RDA Creative Center. The last one of the season is November 4.
- Lego Club at the Roslyn Library, 201 S First St, Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., free.
- Roslyn Arcade & Pizza, 204 W Pennsylvania Ave, has pizza, retro arcade games, pinball, beer and wine. Its posts from early October mention live music and fall programming. The hours listed online contradict each other, so call before you go.
The Roslyn Yard itself has no fall or winter program on the RDA calendar. The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust describes it as a public space on private land at 104 W Pennsylvania Ave, used for picnics, music and movies. Its last listed public event of the season was the summer outdoor movie on August 22. Without the October 17 festival, it will likely sit empty until spring. We covered how the Yard runs during the warm months in our 2026 summer calendar for The Roslyn Yard.
The season ends on Thursday, December 24, when the Roslyn Fire Department hosts Christmas Eve with Santa from 7 to 8 p.m. in front of the NWIC Building, 101 E Pennsylvania Ave.
At Rau Peterson Team, we keep track of Roslyn's calendar because many of our clients spend their fall weekends on these same blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue. If you own a home in town and want to know what it's worth before the holidays, our Roslyn neighborhood page is a good place to start, or you can get your instant home valuation whenever you're ready.
